Established in 2019, Rising Phoenix Empowerment LLC has sprouted like a phoenix from the ashes. With a mission as bold as our name, we're all about cultivating positive relations and making sure systemic racism and oppression take a back seat.
At RPE, we're tackling the tough stuff. We believe in empowering individuals, families, and communities while giving systemic racism a run for its money (figuratively, of course). Our journey began with a simple question: "How do we help people not just survive but thrive?"
At Rising Phoenix Empowerment LLC, we are dedicated to creating meaningful change through our core principles:
Reneau’ Smith is a renowned community leader, dynamic advocate, life coach, and one of the co-authors of the New York Times Best Seller, The Freedom Writers Diary: How a Teacher and 150 Teens Used Writing to Change Themselves and the World Around Them (1999). Her journey of resilience and faith is captured in her transformative book, Walking with a Wound: Grieving Faith. Through this heartfelt narrative, she shares her own experiences with profound loss, spiritual exploration, and the healing process. Mrs. Smith's work is a testament to her ability to turn personal trials into a source of strength and inspiration for others. In Walking with a Wound: Grieving Faith, she explores the intersection of faith, trauma, and personal growth, offering readers not just a window into her story but also a roadmap for their healing journeys.
With more than a decade of professional experience in mental health advocacy and community building, Mrs. Smith has consistently emphasized cultural awareness, systemic change, and empowerment for underrepresented populations. Her vision for Rising Phoenix Empowerment LLC mirrors her book's themes, focusing on uplifting individuals and communities to rise from challenges and achieve their full potential. Mrs. Smith has dedicated her life to strengthening communities and empowering individuals through education, advocacy, and cultural awareness.
Rising Phoenix Empowerment LLC is deeply rooted in its founder’s heritage. Mrs. Smith’s ancestors, including the Honorable Mary Green—the first Black woman to settle in Phoenix, Arizona, in 1868—and Helen Mason, a community leader who founded The Black Theatre Troupe in 1970, have left a legacy of resilience and activism.
This rich history has shaped RPE’s vision and values. Combining professional expertise with a personal commitment to making a difference, Mrs. Smith has created a company that is committed to advancing cultural awareness, mental health support, and social advocacy on a global scale.
At RPE, our values drive everything we do. We:
"Her compassion and empathy for struggling students is impressive and noble......Reneau' is destined to be a leader."
– Erin Gruwell, Founder, Freedom Writers Foundation
"Reneau has showcased exceptional teamwork and collaboration skills. Actively contributing to team efforts, she has played a vital role in enhancing client experience."
